“Starting today, the Pekanbaru – Dumai Toll road can be used to support productive activities, both for the people of Riau and those crossing the island of Sumatra,” said Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
The President of the Republic of Indonesia also explained that the construction of the 131.5 KM Pekanbaru – Dumai toll road costs 12.18 trillion. And it is part of the 2878 KM Trans Sumatra toll road, which stretches from Lampung to Aceh as the main corridor.
In his remarks, the Governor of Riau Province Syamsuar expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, for building a toll road and inaugurating it in person through virtual.
“With the Pekanbaru – Dumai toll road, it is a history of the construction of the first toll road in Riau Province. Obviously, it is very beneficial not only for the people of Dumai but for all Riau Province people and business actors who will enjoy this highway facility in regional economic activities “, explained Syamsuar.
When met after attending the inauguration ceremony for the Pekanbaru – Dumai toll road, the Regional Secretary for the Siak Regency, Arfan Usman, said that the existence of this toll road could accelerate economic development in the areas it traversed.
“One of the areas that the Pekanbaru – Dumai road passes through is Siak Regency, and hopefully it will have a positive impact on our economy”, hoped Arfan Usman.
In addition, the existence of this toll road will save time for the people of Riau Province in general, and in particular in Siak Regency.
“Usually from Siak to Dumai, it takes about 5 hours, with this toll road it only takes about 2 hours. That obviously saves travel time,” said Arfan.
