Have you heard about two suspected British terrorists dubbed as “The Beatles” ?
Alexanda Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh, both in their 30s and from west London, accused of belonging to a “notoriously brutal” ISIS. And they known have appeared in court via a video link in the US.
They were given the nickname as “The Beatles” by their hostages because of their British accents and they allegedly belonged to the vicious group of Islamic State executioners in Syria.
From the investigation, known that the two are said to be responsible for the deaths of a number of ISIS captives, including British citizens Alan Henning and David Haines.
And if found guilty, they both face life in prison.
One of the US assistant attorney general for national security named John Demers announced the charges against the pair during a conference. And Kotey and Elsheikh are in FBI custody.
He said on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020 : “The defendants are charged with terrorism offences related to hostage-taking and killing of four Americans, as well as citizens of Great Britain and Japan. And now, both of them are in FBI custody. It’s means, they can face justice for the depraved acts alleged against them in the indictment.”
Kotey and Elsheikh are also accused of killing American journalists named James Foley and Steven Sotloff, the US aid workers named Kayla Mueller and Peter Kassig.
Kotey and Elsheikh were captured by Syrian forces in January 2018 and transferred to US military custody in Iraq in October 2019.
