Amazing, NASA says that they will announce an exciting new discovery about the Moon next week.
NASA also says that the discovery contributes to NASA’s efforts to learn about the Moon in support of deep space exploration.
As cited News24xx.com from the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA), the space agency has released few details of its latest bombshell.
A modified Boeing 747 named Sofia flies in the high atmosphere allowing a built-in nine-foot telescope to get a view of our solar system and the broader universe, is the world’s largest airborne observatory.
Flying above 99% of the atmosphere’s obscuring water vapor, SOFIA observes in infrared wavelengths and can pick up “phenomenon impossible to see with visible light”, NASA noted in the announcement.
NASA says the mission will help to prepare for its next giant leap – the human exploration of Mars as early as the 2030s.
The event will take place at noon eastern time, or 5 pm in the UK, on Monday, October 26.
