Aespa, is a South Korean girl group who just debuted through SM Entertainment.
Aespa is one of the biggest K-pop debuts of the year.
This new girl receives a lot of support from the new fans, even before their debut, they already had a lot of fans.
The group consists of four members alongside 4 virtual characters “ae”, they have released their new single with the title of “Black Mamba”, on Tuesday, 17th November 2020.
Though they receive a lot of support this group also received a lot of critics. Many say that they are copying other’s creations. The promotional clip was similar to scenes from the Pop/Stars video by K/DA, a virtual girl group from the League of Legends video games.
The fans pointing out the similarities between Black Mamba music video with Pop/Stars video by K/DA start from the location being on the subway, to neon color schemes and graffiti getting used, also the overall aesthetic of Black Mamba’s music video is kind of similar.
Another thing is that Aespa’s first teaser images that were released at the end of October are criticized because of many notice similarities with a fantastical flowery, ethereal photo shoot directed by Huynh in 2019.
