Meanwhile, Rizieq Shihab was named a suspect in a crowded case related to a violation of health protocols during an event in Petamburan, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.
“Yesterday it was confirmed that there were no more (summons), in this case, the Jakarta Metro Police would arrest MRS (Muhammad Rizieq Shihab),” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus to reporters, Friday, December 11, 2020.
The arrest of Rizieq Shihab was carried out, said Yusri, because he had failed to respond to summons twice. At that time, Rizieq Shihab was summoned as a witness in the case that is currently trapping him.
“Yesterday, MRS explained, I affirm that the first witness ‘summons did not come. The second witness’ summons did not come,” he said.
“I repeat Polda Metro Jaya will make arrests of MRS,” he continued.
Previously, the Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab planned to fulfill the summons for examination as a suspect in a case of alleged crowd violation and health protocol (prokes). Rizieq ordered his team of lawyers to retrieve the summons from Polda Metro Jaya investigators.
“We will take this, we arrest it, there is a letter, there is a letter summons to be examined to come, so we will take it now when is the time we will, God willing, say it,” said FPI lawyer Aziz Yanuar to reporters, Friday, December 11.
