According to SM Entertainment, Baekhyun’s second mini-album, Delight, has sold 1,018,746 units since its release on May 25 to June 30. This figure is the latest record set after 19 years.
Baekhyun is the first solo artist in 19 years to have album sales exceed 1 million units. The last solo singer who managed to get this feat was Kim Gun Mo when he released his seventh album in 2001.
Not only that, but Baekhyun also became the second artist in history to get the nickname ‘million-seller’ through selling solo albums and as a group. In 2013, EXO’s first album managed to become the first album to have sold more than 1 million units after 12 years.
The first artist who won the same title was Seo Taiji. He managed to sell 1 million album units through solo and group releases with Seo Taiji and Boys.
