A night watchman at Yos Sudarso Market, Tembilahan, Indragiri Hilir (Inhil), Riau with the initials ER was found dead on the edge of the Indragiri river.
The 67-year-old man was found Saturday (19/12/2020) at around 02.00 am, local time by his two friends. The discovery began when two of his fellow night watchmen looked for him to be taken on guard duty at the market.
“Because the victim was not found, the two witnesses decided to look for the victim at his house, but the victim was also not found at the victim’s house and the lights of the victim’s house were off,” explained Inhil Police Chief, AKBP Dian Setyawan through Kapolsek KSKP Tembilahan, IPTU Ridwan.
Because they did not find the victim at his house, the two friends said that the police chief felt suspicious that the victim had fallen into the river.
“After searching for about 30 minutes, the two witnesses found the victim’s body lying on the riverbank,” he continued.
Upon this discovery, the two witnesses then summoned local residents and informed about and reported the discovery of the corpse to the Port Area Police.
At around 02.15 WIB, the Basarnas Inhil team arrived at the location and immediately evacuated. The evacuation process was completed at around 03.30 WIB and the bodies were immediately taken to the Puri Husada Tembilahan Hospital for a VER (Vissum Et Revertum).
“From the overall VER results, there are no signs of violence on the victim’s body. There is an abrasion on the left cheek and nose bleeding which is thought to have been the result of the victim falling to the riverbank,” said the police chief.
To note, the last time residents around the scene saw the victim at around 17.00 WIB. Victims often complain of pain in the neck and often experience dizziness (headaches) and chest pain that is felt in the back.
Victims usually bathe by the river at 18.00 pm, local time. When his body was found, he was only wearing his underwear and there were toiletries and his trousers which were still on the plaster.
