Two Indonesian citizens (WNI) who worked as crew members of the Hankook Chemi, Aji Winursito and Muhammad Amin were released by the Iranian government on February 2, 2021.
It was conveyed by the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran in a written statement in Jakarta, Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
In a press statement, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry explained that the decision to release the tanker’s crew, except for the ship’s captain, was based on humanitarian reasons.
The two Indonesian citizens with the entire crew of the tanker have been detained since January 4, 2021. During their detention on the ship, the two Indonesian citizens were in good condition and healthy and were monitoring and protecting the Indonesian Embassy in Teheran.
Through the release decision, the two Indonesian citizens on the Hankook Chemi ship were allowed to leave Iran.
The Indonesian Embassy in Teheran is currently in intensive communication with related parties in Iran to follow up on the release of the two Indonesian citizens, including direct coordination in the field with related parties in Bandar Abbas.
