PT Sinar Samudra Agro Teknologi (SSAT) held a Socialization of Pratama Taro and Fragrant Pandan Coconut Cultivation.
In his presentation, the Director of PT. SSAT, Juwita said that Taro Pratama is superior taro which has actually been researched since 1996.
Juwita explained that Primary Taro is the superior taro because when entering the harvest period, Pratama taro has a very large weight, namely 3 to 5 kilos per stem.
Another advantage is that it has a strong resistance to plant pests, can adapt to all plains, and has low oxalate content.
Meanwhile, for Fragrant Pandan Coconut, Juwita explained that Fragrant Pandan Coconut is one of the superior coconut fruits from Thailand. This coconut has the advantage of a distinctive and unique taste and aroma.
“The cultivation of this Fragrant Pandan Coconut plant is also classified as very easy. Its treatment is almost the same as coconut care in general. But there are several things that need to be considered in the cultivation of fragrant pandanus coconut in order to get maximum results,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Indragiri Hilir, HM Wardan, explained that currently in Indragiri Hilir Regency there are still around 64,000 hectares of idle land. If this can be utilized, of course, it will greatly help the economy of the Indragiri Hilir community.
“However, we do not want the incident a few years ago to happen again, namely when there was a Noni cultivation program when the fruit was flooded, we did not know where to sell it because there was no clarity about who the plant was to hold when it was harvested.”
“So if PT SSAT was ready to accommodate the results of the harvest of Taro, the Indragiri Hilir Regency Government is ready to disseminate it to the community, ” he said.
