Who says that only Japanese people have sashimi or raw fish meat that is served for immediate consumption?
Did you know that Indonesia also has several special foods made from raw fish meat?
One of the regions that have it is North Maluku, especially Ternate.
In general, culinary delights in the Ternate region are heavily influenced by the two regions of Maluku and North Sulawesi in Indonesia.
Like everyday language in Ternate, food also has a distinctive flavor from Maluku and northern Sulawesi. This is very reasonable, given the geographic position of Ternate which is closer to North Sulawesi but is still one area with North Maluku.
One of the typical Ternate culinary products that resemble Japanese sashimi is Gohu Fish.
For the mention of this food, it must be complete because if we mention only Gohu it is feared that it will be the same as another typical food from Sulawesi in the form of young papaya salad.
This food is a culinary dish that is the same as Gohu Fish from the coast of North Sulawesi, only different in the name it says.
Made from raw tuna or skipjack tuna, Gohu Fish is also often called Sashimi Ternate by some people. The way to make this food is very simple and easy to do.

Even though it is still raw sea fish, but you don’t feel the fishy aroma at all. The fishy aroma has disappeared itself when the fish meat is mixed with lemon juice and salt. In addition, the level of the rawness of the meat also decreases when it is allowed to stand for a while.
The fish Gohu has a unique flavor. Fresh, savory, and slightly sweet-sour taste mixed with the chewy fresh fish meat. This food is not only delicious but also healthy because it doesn’t use any chemicals at all. Usually, Gohu Fish is a side dish, when you enjoy rice or sago porridge.
Certainly, you will not be disappointed to enjoy this food. In addition to being affordable, cooking is easy, and the taste is also great.
