Kei Island that is located in the east of Maluku is one of the most beautiful islands in Indonesia. Kei is also home to some of the best beaches in Indonesia, with white-sand beaches lined with coconut trees and inhabited by local fishermen and curious kids.

The Kei Islands have two main cities ie Tual and Langgur.

Tual is on Kei Dulah, and it has a majority Muslim population, with some Protestants.

Langgur is on Kei Kecil and has a mainly Christian population.

The villages that surround both of the cities are of mixed religions. There is no religious tension in the area as people enjoy a chilled-out island way of life in this tropical paradise.

The beaches are as stunning as they are long and deserted, where the villagers going about their daily, with a simple life.

Kei is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of Indonesia’s hidden gems, with very few foreigners wandering about, almost no tourism infrastructure, and very little in the way of comfort.

You will found spectacular coastal scenery, crystal clear water, pristine beaches dotted with massive colorful shells, and islands bursting with so much undiscovered.

Its beautiful and pristine beach along with crystal clear water and squadron of pelicans is only part of the reason.

The stunning blue cave and a couple of diving spots scattered around the island are more than enough reasons to visit this island.

The Kei Islands (Kei Besar, Kei Kecil, and Kei Dulah are just three of many islands) and are known as the ‘forgotten islands’.

Kei Besar is mainly made up of hills and tropical rainforests, with almost no roads or accommodation.
Kei Kecil is a bit busier. It now has a new airport, good roads, and several hotels and homestays. It is Kei Kecil where you will find the best beaches (Pasir Panjang being one of them).

Kei Dulah is connected to Kei Kecil by a short bridge. It’s here you can find the connection to Pulau Bair, where snorkelling and diving are on offer amongst incredible limestone scenery!

Pulau Kei has a small but modern airport, with good new roads that lead you to your destination. You have to get yourself to Ambon Airport and take a plane from there to Pulau Kei. Garuda, Lion and Wings Air all offer flights. And there are several home-stays on the islands, located close to the sea.
