The Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) of Indragiri Hilir Regency encourages the Optimization of Empowerment of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDesa) in the management of coconut derivative products for the economic development of rural communities.
This was conveyed by Deputy Chairperson of Commission I DPRD Indragiri Hilir, Muammar Armain during a working visit in order to support the increase of Village Original Income (PADes) to the BUMDesa Integrated Coconut Unit Sumber Rezeki Sungai Ara Village, Kempas District.
According to him, the optimization of BUMDesa on coconut derivatives will have a positive impact on the welfare of the community and can even increase the Village Original Income (PADes).
“We, from Commission I, are very supportive and even encourage the Government to carry out the empowerment of coconut derivative products in Indragiri Hilir because the potential of Indragiri Hilir in terms of developing coconut derivative products is very high coupled with abundant natural resources, entitled the Land of Coconut World,” he said.
He explained, based on data, 70 percent of the people of Indragiri Hilir are local coconut farmers, this potential must be welcomed by rural economic institutions such as BUMDesa.
Mu’ammar also wants local governments to be able to connect these products to container companies.
The People’s Representative from the Electoral District (Dapil) 5 also said that he saw the great potential in Indragiri Hilir to develop coconut derivative products such as coconut water used as fertilizer, soy sauce, nata de coco to coconut shells turned into charcoal, and coconut husks used as handicrafts. until the typical Malay Tanjak.
“This potential should be used as an opportunity by the government to develop coconut derivative products. One of them is the BUMDesa Sumber Rezeki Integrated Coconut Unit, Sungai Ara Village, which is in the Kempas sub-district, so there needs to be coordination and synchronization between the Regency government and the Riau Provincial government so that the potential this can happen optimally, “he added.
