The Regent of Siak Alfedri attended the opening ceremony of the performance appraisal in the implementation of the virtual convergence action program for the acceleration of stunting development in Riau Province 2021, in the Bandar Siak room.
Also attending were Regional Secretary Arfan Usman, Assistant III Jamaluddin, Head of Health Office Tony Chandra and Secretary of DP3A2KB, and staff from Bappeda.
Regent Alfedri said that his party is currently struggling to realize the stages of the convergence action to accelerate stunting prevention in every village in Siak Regency.
“All of us are involved, because stunting handling is not finished in an instant, but starts with the child in the womb,” he explained.
The Siak Regency Government not only involves the relevant Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD), even the Empowerment and Family Welfare Mobilization Team (TP-PKK) and their cadres are also asked for mutual support in resolving to stunt, as well as the parents of the prospective baby.
Because awareness of maintaining the health and nutritional intake of pregnant women is also an integral part of saving generations from stunting.
“Even though we have not entered the assessment yet, we are still struggling to reduce the stunting rate. Because we do not do this for assessment alone. Instead, we do this as an effort to save generations. We want to be born with a healthy and smart generation, ”said Alfedri.
He said a number of programs had been prepared for this. Including a program of supplementary feeding for Paud children. Then, some time ago his party conducted a stunting discussion involving related agencies.
“We are aware that reducing stunting cannot go alone. We are collaborating with a number of parties, including companies, in terms of providing additional food for toddlers, “said the former Tualang sub-district head.
Regent Alfedri hopes that in the not too distant future, results will be achieved.
Considering that there are two sub-districts out of the four villages that have zero stunting, it is hoped that other villages will soon follow. This achievement should be appreciated, considering that to get to that point, it will take a long time. Starting from paying attention to the growth and development of the baby while in the mother’s womb.
Meanwhile, Acting Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Riau Province Masrul Kasmy said that integrated stunting handling or convergence in stunting management is not only the task of the Health Office which provides specific interventions but all DPOs that carry out sensitive interventions.
Thus, this performance appraisal is not the performance of the Health Office but the performance of the Regional Head.
On that occasion, Masrul Kasmy appreciated the presence of the Siak Regent and his staff at the event. This means that the regional head is committed to handling this stunting problem.
“We appreciate the Regent of Siak who immediately attended this activity,” he said.
Because he continued, the implementation of specific and sensitive nutrition interventions in a convergent manner was carried out by integrating and aligning various resources to achieve the goal of preventing stunting.
Masrul Kasmy hopes that this performance appraisal can provide an overview, get feedback and learn from it in an effort to increase the convergence of stunting interventions.
So that districts/cities are increasingly motivated to improve their performance in efforts to converge stunting interventions.
