Starting next year, Burger King fast-food chains will start selling drinks and burgers in reusable packing.
This practice will be carried out in New York, Portland, and Tokyo, and later in other cities.
As Business Insider points out, the containers will not be for sale: they can only be rented.
To receive food in a new package, the buyer will need to place it in the order and make a deposit.
The money will be returned when the containers are returned. In this way, the company aims to reduce waste.
A similar model is at work at Starbucks, where customers can bring their own mugs. But Burger King customers will not have their own packaging to carry to restaurants.
With the outbreak of the pandemic, many fast-food chains, including Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts, have stopped using reusable cups as part of measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.
But Burger King will clean the containers directly in restaurants, so they will not be affected.
