In the United States, they announced the shooting of a film dedicated to a sex scandal with the participation of the famous producer Harvey Weinstein.
According to Deadline, the tape will be based on the book “She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement”, written by The New York Times reporters Megan Toohey and Jody Cantor.
According to the publication, the studio Universal Pictures is currently negotiating with actresses Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan, who can play the roles of two journalists.
The script will be directed by Oscar-winner Rebecca Lenkievich and directed by Maria Schrader. Filming is expected to begin this summer.
In 2017, Toohey and Cantor wrote a report in which they talked about the many young actresses and subordinates of the producer who suffered over the past 30 years and also revealed the details of the systematic cash payments to the victims of the producer’s sexual harassment.
Later, more than 80 women shared their relationship stories with Weinstein, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Salma Hayek.
It was this article that formed the basis of the movements of victims of sexual harassment #MeToo and #TimesUp.
In March 2020, Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
He was found guilty of third-degree rape and first-degree sex inducement. The producer himself didn’t admit his guilt.
