The Russian government has just approved the Corona vaccine to be given to tens of thousands of people.
Even though the vaccine still has not passed the effectiveness test.
Russia has named the vaccine ‘Sputnik V’.
The name refers to the world’s first artificial satellite.
This vaccine was developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute and the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Putin said the vaccine was working quite effectively and “established a stable immunity” against COVID-19.
Putin said that one of his daughters had tested the vaccine on himself and was currently in good condition.
The Russian vaccine is derived from the DNA of the SARS-CoV-2 adenovirus.
This vaccine uses an attenuated virus to transmit a small portion of the pathogen and stimulate an immune response.
Speaking to Sputnik News, Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya National Research Center, stated that the Coronavirus particles in the vaccine cannot harm the body because they cannot reproduce.
Russian authorities said medical workers, teachers, and people from risk groups would get the first vaccinations.
It’s just that many scientists are skeptical about Russia’s decision to register the vaccine because it has not yet entered the third clinical trial.
They think that mass vaccination can pose a pretty bad risk in the future.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) called on Russia to pay attention to the strict safety review of its vaccines.
The reason is, Russia has just reported the development of Phase I trials.
