One of the youths named Anjas (23) died.
The shooting incident began when a police officer was investigating the beating case.
The beatings took place at the house of a resident in the Ujung Tanah District, Makassar, on Sunday (August 30) this morning.
“As soon as he arrived at the TKP, he met the children who were gathering. Incidentally, the children were drinking (drunk),” said Makassar Port Police Chief AKBP Muhammad Kadarislam to detikcom, Sunday (August 30, 2020).
The police then asked the name of one of the perpetrators of the beating case that was being sought from the 3 residents who were gathering and drunk.
Not immediately answering the police’s question, the young man asked the police back.
The police then answered that he was an investigator who was investigating the beating case while showing his police membership card.
“Suddenly someone hit him from behind, beaten by a police officer. Suddenly he saw a lot of people,” he said.
When they saw a large crowd of people approaching, the police immediately fled.
But the 3 young men who were drunk immediately shouted the word ‘thief’.
“These people all came out, the members ran away, eventually they were pushed by the members, pelted with all kinds of things, their names were disguised as plain clothes,” he said.
The police personnel who were pressed were then rescued by police personnel on patrol and passed by the scene.
Seeing the crowd, the patrol police fired tear gas.
Not only that, the police who had previously investigated the beatings returned to the scene because they wanted to take their motorbike.
But when he arrived at the location he was again attacked by residents.
The police were attacked again by residents and pressed.
Finally the policeman fired warning shots. A few moments later, it was reported that 3 residents were shot.
The 3 residents who were shot were Anjas (23), Ammar (18), and Iqbal.
They were rushed to Bhayangkara Hospital, Makassar at 01.20 local time this morning.
Unfortunately, one of the victims named Anjas could not be saved. He died after being taken to the hospital.
On the certificate of the incident, six police officers were questioned by Propam. The police are still investigating because a resident was shot during warning shots.
