After battling a raging five-alarm blaze in a Bronx junkyard, seven firefighters were injured and two seriously.
The entire yard caught fire, spreading to a nearby produce warehouse.
The blaze occured on Monday evening on Drake St. by Randall Ave. in Hunts Point at 4:30 p.m. local time.
The officials said that the fire sent bright orange flames and thick smoke billowing into the air that were visible from across the East River in Queens.
An FDNY spokesman said, “For the incident, five firefighters suffered minor injuries and two other sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries.”
The FDNY is treating the fire as suspicious incident.
Now, the police and fire marshals will determine the cause.
