AstraZeneca is halting all phase III clinical trials of the COVID-19 vaccine co-developed with Oxford University around the world.
This is because one of the volunteers in England experienced side effects in the form of a strange disease that cannot be explained.
This clinical trial was stopped to prevent the occurrence of similar cases.
Although this news has been circulating, AstraZeneca did not disclose what kind of side effect reactions appeared to the patient.
The company previously tested its vaccines in several countries, such as the United States, Britain, Latin America, Europe and Africa.
They also emphasized that they will continue to investigate and confirm the disease caused by the vaccine.
Previously, AstraZeneca and eight other companies signed agreements regarding government approval of vaccines.
The agreement stated that the companies agreed not to seek early approval from the government for their vaccine.
The eight companies are the CEOs of AstraZeneca, BioNTech GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Moderna, Novavax, Pfizer, and Sanofi.
Common side effects that have occurred during vaccine trials include fever, headache, pain at the injection site, and muscle aches.
