Starting in 2035, the government of California will ban the sale of new gas-powered automobiles.
But the ban will not affect the used cars because Californians still allowed to purchase gas-using cars out of state.
The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom announced on Wednesday, Sept. 23. 2020, that he signed an executive order that required the state’s air pollution board to draft rules that all new cars sold in the state must create zero-emissions in 2035.
As information, Newsom can only hold the office until 2027.
But he said, if it does go through, the ban could have implications for car companies worldwide.
Nowadays, California is a massive automobile market, with its residents accounting for 10% of car sales in the U.S.
As cited News24xx.com from to the Associated Press, 13 other states and Washington, D.C., also follow California’s fuel-efficiency standards for cars. And also, several European countries, including France, Germany and Britain have announced similar plans.
