Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) senior investigator Novel Baswedan said that the issue of radicalism and the Taliban, which is now back on social media, is often used by corrupt supporters whose interests are disturbed by the corruption investigation work carried out by his institution.
“The radical-Taliban issue has often been used by supporters of corruptors, even though it is clear that it is a false and fabricated issue,” said Novel to reporters, Monday, January 25, 2021.
He said that this issue was often used by corrupt supporters to attack the KPK and this always happened when the anti-corruption commission was investigating corruption cases.
“Comrades have been able to mark that the issue was raised. Usually there are interests of those who have been disturbed by the KPK and so far this has been true. If the KPK is working properly to fight corruption then they (supporters of corruptors) will attack using that issue,” he said.
Even though this issue has been repeatedly denied by the KPK, Novel sees this issue as still effective even though recently many people have understood that this issue was raised only to interfere with the work carried out by the KPK.
“It seems that the public increasingly understands that efforts to disturb and attack the eradication of corruption are carried out by all means, including by making slander and narratives like that,” he said.
Furthermore, the KPK investigator is reluctant to conclude that the radical-Taliban issue arose because of the corruption case that is currently being processed. Because this needs to be proven.
However, Novel saw a pattern in throwing this issue. Including by using a robot account on social media such as Twitter.
“Usually they do not only raise issues but also make them look like they are discussed a lot. Including using robots in social media. But that can certainly explain experts,” he explained.
It is known, the issue of the radicalism police and the Taliban has indeed been blowing for a long time at the KPK’s Red and White House. This issue began during the selection of candidates for KPK leadership.
